'The Fight at Richardson's Tavern'

October 15-17 2010

Oak Grove Farm in Millis, MA

This event promises to be the premier local event of the year.  We emphasize the word local as Millis, MA is readily accessible to Route 495 in Southeastern Massachusetts.  The event is sponsored by the Lexington Training Band, Col. Bailey's 2nd Massachusetts Regiment and H.M 10th Regiment of foot in America.

The weather in mid October can be glorious, warm but not hot days followed by crisp nights.  No bugs or mosquitoes to contend with.

We are planning several social events for participants to enjoy.  The Ladies of the 2nd MA Regiment & Ladies of Refined Taste are planning a Sewing Circle, Ladies Tea and 18th Century ladies fashion show and children’s games.  In addition there will be an Officers Soiree prior to a Scottish Style Country Dance complete with fiddlers for all re-enactors attending.  A Sunday church service, (brief but effective) will cleanse the possible misdeeds of the night before.  A wide variety of sutlers are being invited for those who want to buy that last minute period item.

For those coming to 'engage' the other side there will be at least one, possibly two morning tacticals in and around the rolling terrain contained in 125 acres of the former dairy farm.  Sustained artillery barrages from freshly constructed earthworks will start each day's main event as American and Crown forces struggle to hold onto vast areas of land in a 'what if scenario' placed in October of 1778.

Interested re-enactor units who belong to either the Continental Line or the British Brigade are welcome to visit our website at www.millishistory.org where they will find comprehensive information on the event.  Registration is a breeze and we include local lodging ideas, maps, a schedule, and of utmost importance what could be conceived of as a plausible battle scenario

Please visit our website and get on board!
